Gloomhaven Journals: The underwater cave

We did another scenario in Gloomhaven this weekend.  This time we did get a rule wrong, because we didn't check the requirements at the top of the mission closely enough.  We needed to have another item before doing this one, but we had already set up and played the first round by the time we realized it.  SO we just went with it, and figured we just need to be more careful next time.  This mission wasn't overly exciting but was a nice test of making sure we are getting better at card management.  We did complete this quest, but only just barely.  Thanks to a miscommunication of what our Spellweaver was doing on their turn, I ended up getting knocked out and the party almost ran out of cards.  But thanks to some lucky card pulls we pulled it out in the end.

Spring, Time of the Flower, Year of the Courtesan
We embarked upon an adventure to find the underwater cavern the scroll the Spellweaver found in the Black Burrows It took some time but we found a boat captain that would take us near the shoals that we would explore.  He was quite hesitant, believing the area to be haunted by spirits.  It was actually quite a bit worse.  The captain sent us on a small boat to the shoal, and we took our breathing apparatuses out as we made our way into the underwater cavern.  The first area was infested with some sort of intelligent slime, and some Imps that had made a home for themselves.  We tried to brush past but ended up having to quash them all.  The slime in particular was difficult to deal with, as most attempts to destroy it were met with resistance as the slime split apart and continued their defense.  While annoying, this simply too time we didn't have with our air bubbles continuing to be used.  As we made our way deeper into the cavern, we continued to find more slime to rid, until we noticed the walls seemed to be more carved than naturally formed.  At the end of one tunnel, we saw a door and prepared ourselves to go through it.  We were not ready for the four drakes that were in the mysterious room.  I lead the charge in our violent struggle, shoving back drakes and imps that immediately rushed us.  After taking injuring two of the drakes badly I was hit with a poison dart form one of the imps, and lost consciousness soon after.  I was revived on our way back out of the caverns, seeing that the rest of the group had succeeded in subduing the final drakes.  The Sea Captain gave us odd looks, but we were in good spirits for having cleared this odd place of these troublesome creatures.

Spring, Time of the Flower, Year of the Courtesan
While recovering from our previous exploits, on a walk about town myself and the Spellweaver found a group of Savvas workers preparing to strike for higher pay for building and maintaining the City's walls.  The heated exchange looked to be nearing violence, so we stepped in.  I appealed to my fellow Savvas' sense of diligence and duty, noting that the city required us all to work together to build a better future.  This appeal seemed to sway them, and hey were still able to get a pay raise while making sure the work was done on time.  Our notority in the city now seems to be growing as people take notice of our comings and goings.
